The Satchel!

Hi All,

I've been insanely busy at work, and I've had a bad cold, so I haven't had much knitting-related activity going on. I was thrilled to get home tonight to find my copy of the Fall 2005 IK had arrived. Now I've looked at the Weekend Getaway Satchel pattern up close and I'm even more enthusiastic than I was before.

I also, for kicks, created an alternate FlowerPower button, in the event that people want to change up the look from time to time. (It looks a lot more fuzzy here than it does on my blog. Don't know why.)

Hope all's well.

Sarah

Aren't you in love with the satchel? There is a KAL just for the satchel that we found. Go to my profile to find it. Also found out that WEBS has a yarn kit for the satchel and the yarn is $99 US dollars. I don't know how that would work out for you.

These days US$99 is about C$120. Not bad until you add shipping and duty. I'll look into it, though.

The WEBS price is actually even lower than $99. Orders over $60 get a 20% discount, so it comes to $85 with shipping. And there's no sales tax if it's shipped to Massachusetts, which is where my family lives. I should definitely get my act together.

That's a great deal! Then all we need is the hardware.

I am going to substitute Wool of the Andes, but I don't think Knit Picks ships to Canada. Lopi Lite would probably work better...since it is so fuzzy, it will felt beautifully. Oh well, I'm trying to save a little money. There's so much knitting that I want to do.

Canada really doesn't have good online yarn stores, as far as I can tell. It's disappointing. I'm not likely to get this project going until the New Year, anyway. I've got start watching my pennies better than I have been.

Okay--I figured out the WEBS website--the kit is discounted to approximately $84. If you use wool of the andes, it would be about $57. . . hmmmmmmm. I think someone in the kal used wool of the andes for theirs. I am torn between the lopi and the price!
I may use knitpicks for the purse . . .
what's everyone else doing?
I am planning on starting this after the new year--how about all of you?

I'd like to start this in the New Year. It's very much going to depend on my money situation and how my wrist is feeling. I need to rein myself in a bit on the knitting front or I'm going to find myself in pain all the time.
